UK worship leader Emma Noonan released her latest single ‘Freedom in Your Love’ on 27th April 2023. The song, which is based on 2 Corinthians Ch. 3, draws on the central theme of living in freedom with Christ: ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom’.
After launching her debut album ‘Within the Silence’ in July 2022, the second track in the playlist, ‘In Denial’, was put forward for the August Step Fwd UK Christian charts in the indie/folk section. She went on to release her first Christmas single, ‘Prince of Peace’, in October which was promoted on UCB2 during an interview with Ruth O’Reilly-Smith. Emma’s music has been gaining online momentum since releasing her first single ‘Faithful King’ in July 2021. She is currently working on her second studio album with her friend, professional recording artist, Phillip Goss; the album will be out later in the year.
Emma’s music to date has been a blend of alternative modern worship with a hint of Indie- folk; however, ‘Freedom in Your Love’ sits within the EDM genre. Its driving staccato beat, alongside the harmonic legato refrain, is breathtaking. You can virtually imagine surfing the crest of a wave as the sampled effects, coupled with the nautical metaphors in the lyrics, swell and surge towards the end of the track. The song is a reminder that there is freedom in Christ if we place Him at the centre of every aspect of our lives. He will return us safely to shore if we put our unfailing trust in Him.
